Question 2003 speedometer and tachometer bracket

I have a 2003 1200 sportster...it has the speedometer and tachometer on a bracket that sits above the head light attached to the handlebars...ive had the bike for about 2 years now....and i have had to replace the bracket 3 times....it snaps underneath the screws and washers that holds it on causing it to just fall off and hang by the wires..is there anyway to fix this problem...it has been replaced by harley everytime and they say its just the design....any help is appreciated...thanks....

Hey, I had this happen and am curious what the part number is for the replacement bracket and how much it costs. I'm debating right now on replacing the bracket or trying to figure out something different..

I went with a chrome one over the stock one thinking it would hold up better. It still cracked, it was around $100 and part #67294-95A. Let me know if you come up with another ideal, I really just have not had time to think about it!

I have this same set up on my 2007 and have not had any issue at all. I don't like the looks of the set up, but it's nice and solid. I will keep an eye on it just incase form now on.

I have had the same problem and was told the same thing...so I had the dealer install the second one. It lasted just long enough until the dealer warranty ended; it was like there was a timer in it. It is unfortunate that they use such cheap metal for the chrome bracket. I think I am going back to the stock bracket.

Use bigger diameter washers on both sides of the mounting and do not torque it down too tight, use some loctite too. The problem is the material and design, cheap material being too thin at the mounting points.

I ended up puting little rubber orings on both sides of the mounts with bigger washers on both sides as well. Once it broke for like the 4th time i just had it welded and then re painted it black. Never broke again
