Default My nightster and I went down on Sunday.

Yesterday I was in downtown Atlanta to check out a friends autoshop and an old car he just got in. When leaving, about a block away, I had a green light at an intersection but some guy decided to turn left in front of me (I dont even think they allow left turns at that intersection). I hit the brakes to avoid him and the bike slid out from under me. Luckily I did not hit him or I would be in much worse shape. I quickly jumped up, looked over and he was stopped. I grabbed my bike, picked it up and moved it to the sidewalk. Yelled a few choice words at myself. When I looked over again, he was gone. I'm sure I was yelling some not nice words, but thats not a reason for the jackass to take off. Anyway, I have lots of road rash (which the nurse made me clean out myself) and a broken big toe. Of course I had my helmet on, but my red 3/4 70s sparkle helmet is now scratched and probably not useable anymore. The bike has a dented tank, bent handlebars, messed up controls and turnsignals. Thats all I really saw while pushing it back to my buddies garage. I'm sure it's all fixable and I wanted to do something different with the bike anyway. Now I just have an excuse to. I'm thinking some burly 14" apes, new paint, and have a few ideas for removing my tail lights and tucking some led's in the rear fender.
Oh yeah, a cop pulled up when I was on the side of the road bloody and all, but didnt stop, he just kept going. Thanks ATL PD for doing your job. pff!
Anyway, it could have been ALOT worse, but luckily it wasnt. I'm in pain, but it will all heal and nothing was life threatening.
Sorry if this post is all over the place and doesnt make sense. I think my Lorotab is kicking in about now.

Sorry to see the trouble, Al. Just posted on the GA thread and then saw this. Crappy thing to have happen. I got the T shirt, too. Hope the rash gets better soon. Hope the scoot is fixable.

nah, stopped for a second when I looked over. I picked up my bike and moved it to the side, turned around and he was gone.

Glad to hear it wasn't any worse. I haven't ridden into Atlanta yet and don't know if I ever will. I get nervous as a long-tailed cat in a room full of rocking chairs DRIVING through/around Atlanta. Colsest I've come (from Clarkesville) is Frazier's HD off of exit 8 on I985. Heal up soon and fix that beast up the way you want it.

just curious, (have 5 months riding so i wouldnt know) but would it be better if you u hit the vehicle (since it crossed in front of you and you have the green) and rolled up and key work TRY to take the impact, therefore a totaled bike and a lawsuit can come out of it???
Just thinking of swerving to miss the car, but if loosing control of the bikes makes u hit somethings else...
