However I realized I was really missing having some music along. Especially the 2 hour freeway trip home.

Has anyone found a decent way of setting up an ipod/mp3 player on their sporty? I've looked at intercom systems but they are spendy and I don't expect to use one too much. I tried headphones but I didn't like the pressure on some points on my head. I also have never cared for ear buds and couldnt get oen pair in with my helmet.

Can anyone help or give any pointers? I expect to take vacation in a couple weeks and weather permitting I will be doing day trips of 200-300 miles a day. I'd love to do it with my music along too.

Thanks
MH
How much do you want to spend and how much more stuff do you want to bolt onto the bike?

Helmet speakers (you can make your own from a pair of quality headphones) with inline amplifier

well... you can use one of our fork bag stereo's they sell for 250, are 300 watts quick release, and come plug and play, i have sold a ton on here and have had great feedback!

the bag hooks to your risers and looks just like a fork bag, but it SCREAMS you have music and not the ugly mickey mouse ears that go on your bars! let me know if you have any questions!

here are some links to threads about them.

Another you can use is oakley O-Rockers. I tried them but after 45mph you coule no longer hear the music because of the wind. ear buds go inside the ear and keeps the wind out. If you do choose ear buds, only use one ear so you can still hear traffic.
+1 - I just have my iPod on my belt, then run the cord up the back of my shirt out the collar and into my ear. I leave one out so I can still hear my bike and the traffic around me. LOVE IT!

Kinda big to put under a helmet though isn't it? I wear a 3/4 atm and probably will get a full face or hybrid. No helmet is not an option, bith because of ohio laws for the next year, and then my own desire to not test out how hard my hard head really is LOL.

Yes, I wear a half helmet, and they fit great. If you have a 3/4 or a full, you can just buy helmet speakers and plug an MP3 player in direct. See the link below.

Where do you mount/store the mp3 player while riding. I am looking at getting the sound of chrome speaker system for the sportster, but I am not too sure where to store/dock the iPod. Thoughts/pictures would be great. Thanks again for any input.

I have done a couple things. 1. I carried the mp3 player and booster in my riding jacket. 2. Hard mounted the booster to the bike and carried the mp3 player in my jacket, 3. wore a fanny pack and carried the mp3 player and booster in that.

So there are options. I won't put a tank bra on my bike and have that damage it. The fanny pack works well if you don't mind the look. The Jacket works well also but limits what you can carry and then you have to be sure it doesn't fall out when carrying your jacket.

+1 on the earbuds. I use the apple in-ear ones, enough isolation to hear the music. Not too much, to not be able to hear traffic. And you can control the volume, etc. right from the cord with the new ones.
