Default Is this paint "rare" or "limited edition"???

So I went to St. Charles, MO Wednesday to pick up my girl's new bike. I found her a 2007, Nightster (1200, uhuh) in black and orange. Only had 3400 miles on it and I don't mind telling everyone: Only cost me $5900.

Anyway, the bike is mostly orange over black. My girlfriend is not a fan of orange and has commented several times already about repainting it because she is in love with the 100th Anniversary color "gun metal blue". I admit, I love that blue just as much as she does, but my friend who is quite an expert when it comes to all things motorcycle related thinks that particular model/paint combo is somewhat rare. His feeling was that if we repaint it, it would be REALLY hard to sell later and if we did sell it, we would lose a lot of money.

Your thoughts?

I've seen 2 or 3 nightsters here in Casper Wyoming with that same paint. they offered it last year on the '09s according to the harley davidson website, now the offer a scarlet red over black. but I'm no expert, just adding my thoughts, nice price for the bike regardless

Lol @ WVleo! No, I'm pretty sure it's not rare and as hot as Nightsters have been I think that alone would be the resale killer.

Buy another set of tins for it and paint them however you like.

Look in the Harley accessory book and find some custom painted tins and replace the ones you have.

Yep, the orange on black is a fairly common and popular color. However, I can't recall ever seeing a female with a nighty that color.

Just buy a new tins set... You will have to remove them to get it painted anyway. This way if you decide to sell it, you still have the original to offer.
