Tank Lift Questions
Ive been doin some research on doing a tank lift. ive done alot of searchin and found several threads about how to do one, also a few on the coil relocation. my questions are how hard is the tank lift with the coil reloc? how high 2" or 3"? and what all can be hidden under it? from what ive seen its is only coil and wire and one thread that said a possible horn. and also is it worth it?? just looking for opinions....

I just did a tank lift on my 07..I went with a 3"...I tried a 2" but it didn't look right to me..I made my own brackets...everything at lowes me like 5 bucks....and less than an hours time....they sell kits for 50....and you won't need to replace any hoses...you should have plenty of slack....as far as the coil...I'm in process of getting a plan together...there is plenty of room for all the wires in the tunnel...but you might had to add to them...not 100% yet....

did all that on my 04.
i did closer to a 2" lift, if ya go much higher you can see a space between your tank and the backbone and to me that looks off. what i did was lossend the bottom bolts on the tank and took the top bolt out then grabed a towle and rasied the tank to where i thought i would like it and stuffed the towle under the back bone and steped away to look, readjusted a few times to get the hight i liked and messured. then, as the poster above me said, hop over to home depot or ace and get the parts for 5 bucks, drill yr holes use some rattle can so then blend into the color of the frame and don't rust.
as far as what you can stuff under the tank after its up....not sure about anything but wires, that is all i put under there. i relocated my coil to under the cow bell and relocated my horn to the front of the bike. then i put my ignition in my seat pan.
you will want to relocate yr ignition, it just looks unfinished if ya do all that work and leave the ignition where it is IMO.
is it worth it?? well thats up to you. i don't know about EFI bikes but i know with my carb bike my 3.3 gal tank turned into a 2 gal tank and that sucks sometimes. but the look is WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY worth it, looks killer.

lifted tank looks so good and gets rid of the lame plastic under the frame.
