Default North Pole, AK to Denali Day Trip

So I got back from Iraq a week ago, picked up my 09 Nightster that same day (FINALLY after 11 months of pining over her).

So yesterday I get a wild hair up my *** and decide I need to go to Denali. Our blink and you miss it Autumns up here in Alaska are amazing. The 150 miles each way trip was... unreal. EXACTLY what this infantryman needed after a year away from freedom. My ol' lady drove behind... just in case (I'm a new rider) and took pics. I'll post em soon.

I visited Alaska this summer, and wished I could have brought my Sportster to ride. Especially the drives from Talkeetna to Denali and Anchorage to Homer/Seward.

Beautiful state you live in there.

And here's some pics...

Fueling the bike and the belly at Badger Gas in North Pole about to head South to Denali.

First stop... the iconic Skinny Dick's Halfway Inn.

Pulling into the park

One last stop on the way home at Parks Monument... I must've sat there for 20 minutes just breathing it all in. What an unbelievable day that was. EXACTLY what this soldier needed after the last year.

Welcome home Soldier.
I'm proud of you and I thank you.

I'm also highly envious of your ride.

Thanks for sharing it with us.

Thanks so much for your service!! We truly appreciate you...my daughter and granddaughter live in North Pole. She graduated from the high school in 2005. It's sure beautiful this time of year. Glad you enjoyed your ride.

Be safe and I hope you're back in the states for good.

I'm guessing your stationed in Fairbanks? I was stationed at Fort Rich, I got out in Feb. of this year. A ride you should look in to is Anchorage to Fairbanks. The ride is AMAZING! If you check my profile I have some pics of mine. Ride Safe and I'm glad your home safe!

Yeah I would make that run but it's looking like the good weather has run it's course and I'll be moving down to Ft. Hood in January so... no Fairbanks to Anchorage ride for me... if only it had stayed slightly warmer a couple of more weeks.
