Default Sportster key

I need an extra key for my 02 sportster. the dealer wants $22 to order 2 from HD. I can't seem to find anyone who has the blanks to cut one. Am i stuck going to the dealer, I see some blanks on ebay

Many Locksmiths and ACE Hardware stores have the blanks.

I got mine from a locksmith. I keep 1 as a spare in my pocket just in case...

And....um........most Sportster keys will work in any other Sportster, at least the '04-later ones.

Ace hardware. But I did have to spend the $22 for a spare for my Deluxe. What a racket.

jbg -- If you think $22 is a racket, try getting a 2nd PATS key ("Passive Anti Theft System") for a Ford. My son bought a used pickup from a dealer, and they only gave him one key. A second key is $35 for the blank plus $65 labor to teach the truck to recognize the RFID chip in the new key. $22 is a bargain.
