My guess is that anything Mechanical that goes bad would not be covered. I'm sure they won't cover cylinder, piston damage, etc. But other stuff should still be covered. For example, if a bearing in your front hub goes bad, that should still be covered since that would have nothing to do with the 1250 kit.

I have an 883R. just did pipes, carb, airfilter. Around Dec, I will have my local HD shop do the 1200 kit. They said it will not void the warr if they do it. also you save $$$$$ on insurance. It still is an 883.

I would say go 1200, sure you can do all sorts of stuff to the 883 but that stuff can be done to the 1200 to make it scream!! A 1200 above stage one is truely a beautiful thing. Have you talked to the dealer about what parts you like and dont like and what can be swapped out at the factoruy? Maybe you can order stuff to your specs?

Not to bash the 883 in any way, My dad has one he loves it, but he doesnt like to go real real fast like us younger bucks, lol

You need to find another dealer.....

We do it to a select few 883's, and people love them.....

Rip a 1200 they do, easily....

And it is a standard 1200 conversion.... all HD, so no warrenty issues....

. Just don't get talked into a Dyna or something because the salesman is trying to convince you, "You're gonna wanna trade-up anyway in a year or so." lol
I went to a few Harley dealers when I was shopping for my bike. I woud not do business with any salesman that gave me that "trade up in a year" line of crap. I could have purchased a Dyna or a Softail if I wanted to. I wanted a Sportster and I knew it. The other bikes were nice, but not as comfortable to me. (Except the Road King) It's just about a year later and do I want to trade up? Nope....Perfectly happy with what I have.....

From everything I've heared you guys say, I'm going to go with the 883R. It all came downt to Money, looks, Potential power vs. $$, insurance, and sleeper-ness.

I plan on buying it in November. The 07's will be in. So either I'll get the newest model year, or get a really good deal on a 883R from last year they need to get rid of.

Btw, here is a quote from Ozaiss bout his converision from a 883 ro 1200 for $852

ozaiss

Finally finished the easiest conversion and great bang for the buck!
Things purchased:
1200 conv kit (cones and pistons) 10:1 compression $400
n2 cams (mild cam over stock, uses stock heads and springs) $275
dynojet kit (rejet carb) $96
Gaskets $55
New head bolts (please do not use old head bolts) $26
screaming eagle slip-on (came with my bike)
total $852
Rear wheel
dyno results
before 39hp 45 ft-lb torque
after 68hp 73 ft-lb torque

This is a great set up because the ignition stays the same and the heads stay the same. Hd ignition is almost bullet proof and it will take the guess work out of ignition timing. If you purchase an after market ignition there is always the time and money in tuning and dyno tuning here is $300 minimum. I spent $852 on parts and $50 on the dyno. I know that there are hotter set-ups out there but there also alot more money. When I put my bike back together I just started it up and started riding. In one weekend I'm loving it

If money is the issue, why not buy used. Two months ago I got an 05 1200 C that had 1300 miles on it. It was and still is flawless. I'm not exactly sure to the penny but the original owner lost about $4,000.00. (Plus I still had one year left on the warranty.)
