First Gear Klunk

First Gear Klunk
Recently bought 05 1200R with 2000 miles. Bike runs fine except whe I first start it up and shift into first, I get a fairly lound metalic klunk from the tranny. Letting it warm up for a couple minutes doesn't seem to help. After the initial klunk or after I've been riding it everything fine. Any ideas, is this normal?

I get the "clunk" in 1st, 2nd, 3rd 4th and 5th.... LoL... [8D]
But yeah, usually the shift into 1st when first starting the bike up is "The Clunk Heard Around The World"....
It's normal...
I get the same thing on my FXDWG, and I believe every other Harley that I've ever owned...

As long as your scooter shifts I would not be overly concerned about the CLUNK. If it is really bugging you or you think it may be damaged, service it and check the fluid for metallic particles, that would definitely be a sign that your tranny has issues. I am betting your scooter is just fine.
