Default S&S Carb

Has anyone uupdated the stock carb on their sporster? If so, did you notice a performance improvement enough to justify the cost? Been reading about S&S.

i run a s+s super e on my 83 ironhead. the bike came with the carb, and it seems to run pretty good. also the carb is pretty simple to work on as far as adjusting and changing out jets and stuff. hope that helps out some!

when i added the 1200 kit to my sporty, i used the screamin eagle carb, made a huge difference, an S&S would most likely do the same.

Unless you go at least a bit beyond Stage 1 (like with some head porting and/or hotter cams), a carb won't probably give the benefit it could (maybe a little easier tuning) although it won't hurt. The stock CV carbs are actually not bad. For an upgrade I like the Mikuni carbies - thinkin' I'll probably go to a 42 (the Mikuni HSR 42) when I do my 883-1250 conversion. Just my 2 cents!

Just talked to a guy this weekend who put a Mukuni on an 01 heritage. Swears by it. Do you have source for info?

Check this link out:
Mikuni kit

You can get better prices by shopping around, but if it were my $$ I'd make sure I'd have the engine to go with the carb...

Good luck!

the s&s carb is a great carb if u need one and so is the mikuni. if your cv is good a good jetting and a pleated style airfilter would do the job.
