Default So I've had my Super Glide for about 6 months

And not a day goes by that I don't regret trading in my Sportster. I pretty much thought I might be making a mistake as soon as I drove off the lot. Should have listened to my gut on that one.

I knew what your post was going to say before I even read it! That sucks dude! Oh well, pay it off and buy another. For some reason I have a feeling Sportsters are going to be around for a very, very, very long time

Glad you understood UPS, I thought he meant he regreted trading it in. But I think he may have missed a couple of key words. Or maybe it is me not thinking clearly this time of night.

Me too. But understand now. And I too have been thinking about trading in for a Dyna.

After several years of my sportster I did trade it in for a wide glide....loving it. The trick is to find the bike that is "right" for you as a rider....OR you could find the one that suits you as far as looks goes and then modify it for comfort and rideabilty...that is what I did for my WG .... No regrets here!

Original post edited for clarity.

Honestly I just don't care for the larger size bike. I'm about average size, 5'10" 185 lbs, so I have no problems handling the bigger bike, but I just felt so much better on my Sportster. So much more maneuverable. I thought I needed this bike since I was going to be riding to work every day on the freeway, but I took my Sportster 883 to Vegas with no issues .

I think I got caught up in how good a deal the trade in program was and thinking bigger was better.

My plan is to pay down the Dyna to a point where I can sell it, then buy another Sportster.

I have a friend that is on an '06 1200c and he is 6' 220lbs...he still won't trade his in. Again, it is all about the bike that YOU like the best. Took many years and the right bike for the right deal to come along before I made the trade. It was kind of sad because I had been thru so much with that bike. I have already created quite a few fond memories with this old girl though

This was the day I bought the sportster

And this was about 5 years of mods

Loved her, but I love my new girl too

Wow, looks like you put a lot of love into that bike. I do love the look of the Wide Glides though, especially the new 2010 models.

I'd love to get a Dyna, but I'm not sacrificing the Sportster to get it. Softails don't interest me much believe it or not, and I wont even look at the touring class or Rod models. Yep, Dyna is as big as I would go, but the Sporty stays!

That is where a test ride comes into play. I used to THINK I wanted a Heritage until my dad traded his old shovel FLH for one. After riding his I realized that it wasn't the ride I expected even though it was what I liked to look at. The WG was the way to go for me and it was the LEAST likely candidate for a purchase just a year or so before I got it. Go figure
