Default Nightster back firing?

Hey guys i just bought my first harley, an 08 nightster...It came with vance and hines and i was wondering if it was normal for back firing to occur when I let off the throttle at about 60-65 mph in 5th gear?

also there seems to be some rust on my spark plugs? should i just replace them? or take it to the local harley shop?

Thanks guys,

Hank

Sounds like decel popping.... Normal for a lean running bike. Check the plugs and see what they look like... post pics. If you don't have stock air cleaner, you may need a fuel management system to correct a lean condition.

Try tightening the nuts on each head pipe.

I had the same problem with mine V&H on my Iron, I also have a Arlen Ness Stage 1 and a PCV from Fuel Moto... I called them about it and they had me adjust my fuel table from 1000rpm to 7000rpm to a -60 in the first column. Also called DynoJet and they confirmed the settings. Jamie also said that since the pipes are sooo short, that some popping is to be expected.. Hope this helps.....
