Do you already have the stuff from a 2004 sporty? In that case, the answer would be yes. Unless they don't fit, in which case it's No.
I put a 2000 tach in a 2004 double bracket and installed it in my wife's 2003 XLH883. Worked OK. In your case, the speedo is likely to give you trouble, as it will show the last mileage from the 2004 it was removed from. If the mileages are significantly different, you may want to order a new speedo from HD...they'll set the mileage before it's shipped out (about $350).

So is the spacing the same on the riser mounts? I was hoping to put the 'insides' of my speedo in an '03 mount when I change the bars. Kinda the opposite of what 61harleyman wants to do.

As far as the spacing between the risers, my 02 and 08 are interchangeable. The Speedo housing that attatches to the top clamp will fit the speedo from either bike also. I am pretty sure the speedos are interchangeable electrically, but like was said, the odometer mileage will not be correct.
Your riser from the 04 custom should fit without a problem.
