Question Sporty 1200 sounds like a sewing machine......

Of you who have had 1200's do they sound like sewing machine? My friend has one ,I don't if that is normal or not...If not he may have a problem....I rode it, and it does sound strange...I've had two 883's, and they didn't sound like that...What do you guys think? I believe his is a 2007....

We ride machines, sometimes they sound like machines.

If it isn't a squeak, creak or a knock we are doing ok.

Generally, Sportsters do have a bit of top end noise. A fairing will actually amplify the noise a bit and make it more noticeable and it can sound a bit like a sewing machine at times if the bike has the stock exhaust pipes or fairly quite exhaust pipes on it as louder pipes can help mask the sound. It's probably normal. It is probably not a problem, just part of the Sportster charm!

Here is what the inside of your engine looks like... This should explain the sewing machine sound.

It's a girls bike, it's supposed to sound like a sewing machine.

Just kidding I love Sportsters.

LMAO! hahaha that was funny. I got a good laugh out of that.

My Dyna has the same sound. I've asked about it a couple different times on the forums and everyone says its normal. Guess its just part of owning a harley!

I've noticed the same noise on mine. Seems to go away above a certain RPM though. When i hit 60 it disapears. Was wondering what was causing the noise myself, good question.
