As already posted above, Snap Ring Pliers or Cir-Clip Pliers are two different names for the same tool. Each end of the Pliers has a small pin on it that will fit into the hole in the end of the clip that is on the peg. When you squeeze in on the handles of the Pliers the ends of the Pliers start to pull apart and then the clip will open up enough to clear the peg. I have replaced my original peg and Cir-Clips/Snap Ring with a normal bolt and washer and Nyloc nut so that I can tighten the footpeg enough so that it doesn’t fall down while riding. I just hate when it does that! Plus, you don’t need to carry around Snap Ring Pliers in your tool bag everywhere you go. Sometimes the old fashion, simple things are more useful than the modern, high tech things, but to each there own. Good luck and ride safe!
