If the neighbors are going to complain about your pipes then make sure you go and raise some hell about the noise when they mow their lawn, yell at their kids, etc.... In all fairness I live in an apartment complex still (the Harley had to come before the house) and with the way the buildings are set up the sound echos like you wouldn't believe. During the day people can suck it up and deal with it but when I come home later I try to cut it off before I'm too far into the complex.

Anyway, stock pipes are probably your best bet unfortunately.

Did you buy the bike that way? Sounds strange to buy loud pipes and then quiet them down...

Here's the scoop directly from Vance and Hines regarding quieting down the short and side shots.

This is direct from V&H

Eric,
Yes, the Side Shots (104 db) are louder than the Short Shots (102 db). The quiet baffles will take off about 3 db on either set of pipes.

There you have it. Not sure exactly what decibals the stock exhaust are?

Hope this helps.
Eric

I have the quiet baffles in my shortshots. Before I tuned it with the SEST, it ran louder. When we punched holes in the baffles and tuned it right, believe it or not, the bike sounds quieter now.

Default Wraping Pipes?

From what I have heard! you will Wreck the Nice pipes by putting wrap on them..& later think they will look Ok when wrap taken off..I know the Pipes are loud! mine are the Short shots..Mabee quiet baffles? then why even put those pipes on if concerned about Noise? Loud Pipes Safe Lives!

+1. With all the barking dogs, lawn work and garage band practice in my neighborhood, nobody better say a freakin word to me about loud!
