your dealership
I am new to this board and have seen quite a few references to HD dearlerships refered as "stealerships". I for one am quite satisfied and impressed with my local dearler, Appalachian HD in Mechanicsburg, PA.
I am a new rider and bought my first bike a '06 XL1200C in January- the entire staff was extremely helpful and made my purchase and follow up questions, upgrades etc...painless and enjoyable. The crew has been helpful and has made me feel part of the faimily.
I feel fortunate to have them in my area and have no problem paying a few bucks more for the expertise and ensurance that the job is done right and backed by HD.
Just curious of what other riders on this board thinks.. thanks-

RE: your dealership
For the most part I am also happy with my dealer Fletcher's HD in Clearwater, FL. They seem pretty reasonable, they dealt with me on the price of the bike and they often have 20% off sales on everything including all parts in their store. I think their labor prices are a bit high though at $65 / hr. I can't believe shop overhead is that high that they need to charge $65 an hour. What the heck are they paying the techs, $30 an hour???? I doubt they pay most of those guys $20 an hour but I may be wrong. For $30 bucks an hour, Im going to find a new career at the Harley dealer....lol.

That's pretty much the standard rate. I know that is about the going rate in the automotive industry. Makes me glad that there is not much that I'm afraid to take a wrench to.

Well you gotta remember that they that money doesnt jsut go twards paying the techs and then makeing profit. Theres shop space, tools, utilities, all teh little parts that are just included with working on bikes, insurance, benifits, and 2-3% for credit card costs, stuff to wash the bikes with, and all kinds of other crap.

The dealership I go to must be doing something right. The wait right now for service is into the end of July! And, they already havea good portion of August booked too! The thing is, I didnt see the sign that said, We are giving "things" away for free"....lol
