I had good amount of oil leaking from my 2007 xl883c, and the bike only has about 600 miles on it. I thought it was from overfilling the oil tank, however after checking everything and reducing the oil to only 1/4 full it was still leaking.

I took it to the Harley-Davidson dealership (since it was still under factory warranty) and they determined that there were weak/faulty oil clamps in 3 areas (1) the oil return line (located where the hose connects to the top backside of the oil tank) and the (2) lower clamps at the bottom of the tank.

The Dealership told me that HD has updated to a new stronger style of clamps. They ordered them from HD and replaced these 3 clamps free of charge.

Just a heads up incase some of you are still having oil leakage even after confirming that the oil is not overfilled.

Sporty is perfect now!!! No more Oil Leaks!!!
