What do Sportster Owners Think of the SB?

special ed-My son took his 06 Street Bob from Chicago to the Arctic circle and back for 9.6k miles. He is 6'5" and 260 lbs and was carrying over 100 lbs of gear. I could hardly hang with him in the twisties in the Northern Rockies. There was many gravel areas and I didn't notice any unstabilty at all and I was behind him all the way.
I was on A Buell Ulysess XT with a competent a suspension as any bike on the market.
It is only your opinion that there is a design flaw in the Dyna. It is not a proven fact in the real world of riding.

Well guys, I did it. I got an 09 Street Bob today. I will take delivery of it tomorrow. I want to say that this thread helped me made up my mind about this acquisition.
I am glad you took your time to respond and help me with this decision.
Now, I need to take my bike to the dealer for the trade in. I think I got a good deal so I am happy about it. I definetely broke even and took a nice gift card and the first 1k mile service.
I am planning on buying the maintenance guide so I can do it on my own.

You know, no one has bothered to mention that the Street Bob as well as all Dynas have a couple of serious design flaws. Number 1 the rubber mounted engine which is attached to the swing arm and causes wobbly, unstable high speed cornering. And Number 2 they have less cornering clearance than a bagger. The main reason I wish I would have bought a Sportster is for what I have into my "mediocre" Dyna I could have had a really nice Sportster.

I ride a Nightster and always find the Fat Bob and Street Bob feel the most familiar to me and an easy transition from the Sportster.
Now, I've taken the V-Rod Muscle out a few times and it I really loved the ride. Cool as hell. But it would take getting used to because it is a TOTALLY different feel from the Sportster or any other Harley for that matter. The Dyna on the other hand is very familiar.
