My only thought is take it back to the dealer and get a refund.

Ya, the dipstick is defective. Take it back to the dealer and make them give you a new one. They charge more than enough for those crappy parts and come with crappy warranties of 90 days where after that they just tell you they can't do anything. Do not hesitate for a second to make them give you a new one.

Most get the oil temp dipstick because it's easier to turn than the stock dipstick. The stock one has sliced more than one finger and sometimes is impossible to get out. The consensus is that people hate the stock dipstick design. The oil temp reading is just an added bonus. I use it to know when i can get on the bike because it is fully warmed up.

Mine started leaking after a few months (after warranty of course). Its a POS, so i just went back to the original which works fine for me.

Damn oil ruined a good pair of riding pants with that oil stain!! [:@]

I finally figured out that the stock dip stick is alot easier to get out if I leave my riding gloves on to remove it. Sounds simple but makes a world of difference.

Other than being a little harder to see oil level than the stock one, I have had absolutely no complaint on the temp dip stick.
