So Motordrum's latest thread has inspired me to start my own thread.

I have noticed that when I get on my bike my forks compress much more than they used to. They are also rattling while I accelerate when riding. When I hit bumps they actually make a loud clunking sound (bottoming out I guess) much more often and on much smaller bumps.

To fix this do I just need to change fork oil? Or could the rattling be something more like a bad bushing in the neck?

I'm trying to avoid going to the dealer, because around here they like to charge $30-40 just to look at a bike.

Stupid Indiana roads, I only have 6000 miles on the bike.

You might want to check your fork oil and see if its at the level.

 

Does this involve draining the fork oil and then checking how much came out? I read the manual and can't find anything about checking the fork oil level, just replacing
