Default uh-oh, leaking oil from a head?

i just got back from a trip and noticed oil had dripped onto the engine casing and onto the ground. I think it's coming from the rear cylinder head. my bike is supposedly under warranty, all the mods done by the first owner who worked for HD, but mods nonetheless. is this bad? duh, oil leak has to be bad i guess. do you think it's still covered? if not, god forbid, what's it gonna run me? '08 nightster with 11,500 miles this shouldn't be happeneing.

when you say head are you saying from the bottom of the jug where it meets the crank case or at the top of the jug where the rocker box cover bolts on?

I had a leak on one of my rocker box covers in the first 5,000 miles in and out of the shop with new gasket and bike now has 36,000 on it and still no leak. Bike is an 07

as for warranty you should be ok is the shop that the guy you bought it from close and does he still work there? Id take it there if so and you probably won't have any hassle if not take it to local dealer and see what they say.

Top of the jug or top of the head? Doesn't matter if it's top or bottom of the jug, either way the cylinder will have to come off to replace the base gasket if the bottom head gasket is leaking. If it's the top of the head then it is no biggie, but either way you should still be under warranty.......unless it stopped after 10k?

Must be that time....08 nighster just under 11k on it and my bf just noticed it about a week ago. Same thing. Should not be a huge deal but definitely bringing it to dealer to have it done, still under warranty for me until November. Have a great dealer here that I trust so not too worried. Hope to get it in there in the next few weeks. Let you know how it goes...better go well!
