Default Medical profession sucks, now I have to sell my bike!!

I've had back problems for 16 yrs. I finally decided to try & get something done about it. I'm too young,(51yrs. old) to sit around the house cause my back hurts. I find a back specialist that says that they now have a procedure,(injections), that can deaden the nerves that are causing my back pains. 3 weeks & $3,000.00 later, he tells me it must be something else, cause the injections didn't work. Now I'm trying another procedure called IDD therapy that I had to pay $3,500.00 up front, & is not covered by insurance. I'm hoping it works, & so far seems to be. My sister had it done a year ago,(she couldn't even walk at the time), & she's playing golf 3-4 times a week now. If a guy pays to get his car, truck, or bike worked on, & it still doesn't run right, you can take it back to the mechanic & he will usually make it right with you. Doctors don't work that way. They just try something else, & charge you again. Maybe that's why they are called "practicing physicians". I'd like to find one that's done practicing, & knows what the F@*k he's doing!

What's this got to do with Harleys? I am now being forced to sell my sporty to pay the damn medical bills. I've only had it since Feb. of 06, but I guess I can always get another one after I get the medical bills paid. I know I can make payments to them, but this was the deal I made my wife, & if momma aint happy, aint knowbody happy.

I've got the bike advertized in the classifieds, so if anybody is looking for a "ONE OF A KIND" Sporty, check it out.

Sue him for malpractice and get a secong bike.

Its not acceptable for a docter to take $3000 of your money and just say, "It must be something else."

Sorry your having problems with your back man. I work for doctors in the medical field and what happened to you sounds familiar. My experience has been that doctors don't try and reinvent the wheel. They keep up with what is going on across the country and then follow conventional wisdom. Your condition most likely would be resolved in x% of cases by the method he used. If not, then they try the next best thing. Stepping outside the parameters that most doctors follow sets them up for legal action. It may not sound fair to you because the first approach didn't work for you. As far as paying your medical bill goes, a lot of doctors are satisified with time payments. Pay a little each month. Normally they don't tack on interest. I was doing this with one ER doctor and after the third month, he just wrote off the balance ($80) because the accounting was costing more than it was worth to him I guess.

I have had back problems off and on for 30+ years. Went to this one doctor one time and he gave me some exercises to do and they helped. But I think the biggest improvement has been since we bought one of them Sleep Number beds. Don't have to do the stretching exercises anymore. It flairs up ever now and then but a good nights sleep and I'm ok.

That's such a bunch of crap. Doctors are no different than anyone else, please people do not think that because they paid tuition and passed the tests that they are smarter than most. I worked in a hospital and have been out until bar closing with doctors that were on duty the next day. It is easier to be a below average doctor than it is to be a below average mechanic, why, because your average person will complain more and question the diagnosis of a mechanic way before a doctor, because it is supposed that doctors are super-intelligent. You also have the group mentality of doctors being protected by the clinic or hospital they work for. I could easily take a good mechanic with some natural mechanical ability and translate coolant flow and plumbing into digestive and circulatory system info, same with electrical and electronics into nervous system, how about muscular and bone structure into suspension system, and he would make a fine doctor. For the most part, and I do mean most, doctors have fallen into the, "It worked for that guy, so it should work for this guy" mentality, not to mention the, "Hey, I made a bunch of money off of that treatment, maybe she needs it too". Case in point, would be the unbelievable percentage of C-section births that were all of the sudden required in the late 80's and early 90's, why, because hospital's didn't make money on natural births, not as much as an invasive procedure like a c-section. You want more, how many people know children that absolutely had to have tubes in their ears, this was based on a magic number of ear infections the child was diagnosed with in a 12 month period, not some amazing insight the doctor had. How many of you know someone that has had a stress test recently, followed by the inevitable angiogram, followed by a stent or two, possibly then followed by the news that they either needed a pacemaker implant or a valve replacement. You would be sick if we were to tally this up. I'm done.

Sorry to hear of your troubles.[&o]
But thanks for reminding me of reason 1,199 to not get married again.
Keep the bike. Where this is a will, there is a way.
I suffered from back problems for about 10 years. Turns out, it was stress-related. Went away about the same time the old lady did. Who coulda thunk it?

Harvey, you crack me up!! Check this out. Today I went in for my IDD treatment. I was bitchin,(again), about it not being covered. My sister said hers was covered with only the $10.00 co-pay coming out of her pocket. I was asked if she had it done by a Chiropractor, & I said no. She had it done at a back pain treatment center of some kind. The therapist said,"oh, that's why it was covered". Now I'm thinking, it shouldn't matter if it was done by a doctor, a chiropractor, or a fricken circus midget. If he or she has the proper training & a licence to administer the treatment, it should be covered regardless of the phisicians actual title or what kind of a facility you get treated at. Ok, I'm done. WOW, this is just like a group therapy session. I wonder if I could turn in a claim for this. LMAO.
Later guys.
