Default Removing the chrome strip on the gas tank??

If i remove the chrome strip that's on the gas tank will that make the gas cap or tank look stupid??? I'm sure the cap will be sitting up higher or look that way. Will this cause any issues?? How hard is it to remove the chrome strip??

some will say different, but i used good old heavy fishing line and try to keep it off the paint, take your time and the line gets hot from the process.

Heat it with hair dryer, and take some fishing line and "saw" under it.Then some adhesive remover to get the glue off ,and acoat of wax.I like mine much better without, plus I sold it on ebay for about $50.

I removed mine on my 08 1200c. I took some fishing line and a little Texas heat and it came right off. I then used rubbing alcohol to get the excess adhesive off. After a nice polish and wax it looked as good as new. The stock gas cap stuck up quite a bit so i replaced mine the an HD skull gas cap. I did remove the seat so I could get full access to the tank when polishing.

The 883c comes without the chrome strip looks great,

only worry would be paint damage when taking off
