Default what's the furthest you guys have gone w/no front fender?

i'm riding my sporty chopped,w/ no front fender to Sturgis for the 1st time (been 2 times b4 on my heritage) and wondering if i should at least put the front fender on for the ride there and take it off once at the campground.
any ideas and opinions?

i've been in the rain countless times, these past 2 months, once on the interstate, and so much rain got on the spark plugs, causing one to not fire. sat on the side running for a min and the plug dried, and i was good to go. drove slower the rest of the way home, never happened again.

put a bandana on my front fork right over my front tire, like goinsideways136 did, and it gets rid of the rooster tail.

just askin your opinions... (just about 400 miles one way.)

thanks!

dan

I took my fender off the day I bought it and don't plan on putting it back on any time soon! If it rains I tie a bandana around the front and keep on trucking. I wouldn't sweat it....just ride the $hit out of it.

Yeah. The bandana trick works and so does duct tape.

Use some dielectric grease in the spark plug boots to keep 'em dry.

did a 3000 mile + trip from tampa FL to the catskills NY and back, no front fender, no bandana, only had to pull over twice.

got alot a rain. it all worked out.

all i can say is that at that very moment i would have liked a fender....having said that, i wanted to make sure common sense never got the best of me again so i sold it

i would say you will be just fine. I'm about to go on a 1400 mile trip across 5-6 state and its gonna be during the rainy season and i will bring a bandana but i'm so used to ridin without now that its just business as usual

yeah, i didn't have that bandana when i my bike halfway shut down. didn't have a rooster tail at 60. the wind took care of that. haha.

i'll put some of that dielectric grease on there.
thanks for the tips!

I've heard that taking the fender causes sway in the forks. Is that true?

I've had my front fender off for a while now and I couldn't tell any differance in the way it handles.I could tell when my front tire only had 20 psi of air in it.
