Default My very first time with an oil change.

Before anyone gets the wrong idea, I've done oil changes before never on a bike though. I know an oil change at the HD dealer would have cost me about $100, I saved about $60 by doing it myself with all Harley materials (filter and oil non-synthetic). I think I could save money on the motor oil next time. Besides the viscosity what else should I look for when buying oil for my bike, other then actual Mc oil? or does it have to be motorcycle specific oil?
I'm a cheap bastard, check out my bikelift (there is a 2 ton jack underneath it), one thing I will invest on is a oil filter wrench.

Did you burp that little drain hose when you added the new oil.

Next time visit your local Walmart and pick up a 5 quart jug of Mobil-1 15w-50 synthetic. It runs about $23.00 (<$4.50/qt) and your motor will thank you. It tests right up there with the rest of the high priced V-Twin labeled "boutique" oils.

I live in a 'low rent' area, and only have to pay around $21.00 ($4.20 a quart) for the Mobil 1 synthetic 15W50 motor oil....

But seriously, you don't need to spend $8.00+ for a quart of the latest super-duper' designer oil...

UOA's show that regular Mobil 1 15W50 provides excellent protection for V-Twin air cooled engines, and it is used by most of the guys I know with what most would consider very high mileage bikes.

Damn cHarley! I could have got it at Wally World after all... They had the 15w-50 but I was looking for the 20w-50 and even called the HD shop and just somply asked "ok for me to run 15w-50" and they said NO.

Anyway, was out a little extra for oil but did it my self too and saved $$!

Thanks,
Jason

Well, ya can't blame me. Between OFG & myself, I'll bet the Mobil-1 15w-50 oil info and the use of inexpensive genuine HD oil filters has been posted here 100 times in the past year.
