Default I'm a newbie, please help!

So I have an 09 Nightster with v&h short shots and an Arlen Ness big sucker kit. I did the factory download at the dealer and everything is working fine. Not to thrilled wih the sound of the exhaust. What will happen if I remove the baffles?

You will loose some power (torque) in the low-mid RPM range.

Well, you'll gain some loudness/noise factor, but you'll loose some low-mid range torque. It's your call.

your bike needs the back pressure (which is produced by the baffles) to run properly. taking them out will cost you torque in the low/mid rpm area, you will also get alot of decel pop(backfiring), and possibly put your bike in a lean situation which will discolor your pipes(cause them to turn blue). keep the baffles or try bct baffles. also some exhaust companies offer systems with interchangable baffles. you could always sell your v&h's on ebay and get some new ones! check out rush exhaust, i know they offer interchangable baffles!

You're running Short Shots right now right...they MUST be loud! How loud do you really want to go? You'll start getting pulled over right and left if you get much louder.

Everyone brings up a good point. I removed the baffles from my SE slip on's and lost alot of low end and it poped way to much on decel. I ended up added some holes and enlarging some holes on the baffles and it sounds and rund great! I say leave it alone or pull them out and see if you can mod them some.
