83 MPH is that ALL?????

RE: 83 MPH is that ALL?????
I've got an '06 883 (w/ stage 1) and I had it up to 110mph yesterday when the rev limiter kicked in.
Wife and I have ridden 2-up before at 80+ w/ no problems.
If it's tuned like you say it is, I have no idea what the problem could be. I have 2 friends w/ softails that had the same problem but they both had tuning issues and once it was tuned right, the problem went away.

Something isn't quite right. I have a 04 883 C with windshield and me (230 lbs.) that has no problem making 100mph indicated with a little left. I have SE I exhaust and re-jetted carb. The gearing is stock. You need to look into the engine tuning a little further. ............ BC

'99 883c, CS slip-ons, re-jetted. Full windshield. I'm 6' tall, 175lb or so.
Some days she'll touch 100, some days she's doing good to make 85. It seems to depend on the heat, humidity, wind and quality of fuel I have in the tank and probably some things I haven't thought of. Some days are just better than others.
Coming from Tulsa to OKC, she always seems to run a little better because I can get better gas. The gas I have been able to buy in OKC is crap. I can tell when I put it in my car too, not just the bike.

I had a 96 1200 with windshield, bub pipes, se ac, rejetted carb and over 50,000 miles and I let off once it hit triple digits. Closest I can come to your problem is I had a 750 virago that dropped 10 mph top end when I put unrestricted pipes on it and no carb changes.
Have you drag pipes?

RE: 83 MPH is that ALL?????
sorry to hear ya can only do 83 mph. maybee it is the tuning issue and maybee its the windsheild. ive had my ol 83 up to 110 and it had some more to go, i just didnt wanna push her that hard. now that i rebuilt the engine i wanna see what shes really got!!![sm=gears.gif] good luck in your findings and keep postin cause someone might have had the same problem and they might know the solution... take care and ride safe!
