WV, when I enter that 63813-90T into the Harley system it comes up with a cartridge type filter, am I doing something wrong Thanks, Dave
PS, I rode my 1200C to New Cumberland, W.Va. about 40 miles or so north of you, (about 370 miles from here), there was a huge gathering of Harleys in Morgantown. I did not participate in the event but visited a few people out front at the Exxon station. So, between Friday and yesterday I put 795 miles on my bike.

Oh, and yeah, Morgantown held the Mountianfest Motorcycle Rally this past weekend.

I'm not sure how much additional oil the larger filter will hold (never actually measured the difference during oil changes), but one of the benefits I like is the additional cooling surface area of the filter.
On the Sportster, and most other Harley's, the oil filter is sitting up front where it can benefit from maximum air flow to it's surface. Because of the larger surface area it has to help somewhat with cooling when the oil curculates through the filter.
Around here where 100+ degree temperatures are not uncommon during the summer every little bit helps.

i have also done some research about what oils and filters to use, after a bunch of wasted time, looking and pricing out oil and filters. i didnt want to chance blowing up my motor, i have a 08 nightster. and i read in many articales horrow storys, cause the after market filters are not clalibrated correctly, just cause it scews on dont mean it works. i work at a car garage, have access to free filters and oil..... opted to go to the local motorcycle shop that builds bikes. they said use a harley filter or a filter made for the evo motor it will say on the box.! and evotech oil. they have worked on my dads bike for years. and i didnt want to end up like alot of my car customers, wasting time on the internet and money on gimmicks. stick to what the pros know. buying the stuff from harly is cheaper then buying a motor. the evotech brand oil is cheaper then the harley. most independent cycle shops that service and build should have it

I bought K&N filters for my 1200 C 2008 cause I got a deal on a few - now I`m worried about the micron thing - anyone have experience with K&N - it is the correct part # (K&N) for my bike but I have no idea if they care about microns - maybe they just use the same Sporty filter for all years - any thoughts?
