I believe you can use the front fender but definitely not the rear. Atleast not without some mods. The Nightster rear fender is significantly wider. I also saw a fuel pump block off kit that would let you use the Nightster tank in a carb. application.

Where did you see that fuel pump block off kit at? Also are the frames the same where the tanks bolt in to interchange an 07 Nighster tank to 2002 1200?

I was checking it out when I was looking for a project bike. I decided on a 2003 XL1200C simply because I have a 2003 XL883C. I ran across it when I was looking in to the same tank swap but never paid too much attention to it because it looks like a simple part to make. A block off plate that seals the tank & has provisions for a left side pet **** is an easy task...but then I found the same tanks brand new without fuel pump accomodations...so then I really put it out of my mind.

I'll keep an eye out for it & if I see it again I'll post a link.

As far as a 2002 I am not sure but I know the Nightster tank has different mounts than a 2003.

Now that I think about it...it would make more sense to paint your current tins. To use a Nightster tank the mounts will need to be re-worked, I would feel safer welding the block off plate in & welding a petcock bung in that plate. But you would not have a reserve unless you welded in another bung for it. Then re-seal the tank...and remove & weld the nipple hole shut...painting the tank you have or even buying a brand new tank from a non-hd company and having that one painted would probably end up less expensive considering shop rates for labor alone for the mod.
