brake light issue
#11
Both of my brake lights were out about 3 weeks ago. I checked the rear switch and it was bad. Bought a replacement at the stealer for about $20. Replaced it and it worked for a while, but I noticed that it was broken again a couple of days ago.
Didn't think the hydraulic switch would fail that quickly but apparently it did. I picked up a new one and the lights worked after I replaced it. Guess I'll be returning one to the stealership for a replacement or refund.
I use my front brake more than the rear so I wanted to make sure both switches were operational. So I picked up a new front brake switch (aftermarket for $16, not the $60!! the stealer wanted) and changed it today. It wasn't a very difficult job, but it did take a while to complete. When I removed the original switch I found that the plastic piece had broken off.

I (personally) would be a bit worried since I've been rear-ended on my bike, even with the lights working. Don't think you would want to experience the same.
