I was wondering what the year range is to interchange parts with a 1999 Sportster 883.

It may depend on the part specifically, but mostly 1995 - 2003

 

What ^^^ he said, but I thought it was '96 through '03. But some even older parts are interchangable too.

 

yeah just depends on what parts your looking at......most engine parts with the exception of the primarycover and clutch will be the same from 91-03, primary cover and clutch adjuster will be 94-03. Some engine parts like the rocker boxes will go back to 89 though. And many electrical components will run from 96-03, but some will run back to 89. So you can't really say for sure unless there's specific parts your looking at.

 

What about tins I have a 1999 sportster and found the tank and fenders for a 93-94 and am unsure if they would fit. Thanks in advance

 

Check Ronnie's HD microfiche and see what the part numbers are for the 93/94 fenders and the 1999. I know the oil tank was changed in 1994, but the rest of the metal should be the same. The petcock was changed from the right side to the left in '93 or '94.
