Default 60 m.p.g.?! Is it for real?

This is going to sound off the wall. I have a 90 mile round trip to work. All but 5 miles of it is highway, 65 mph or higher. I filled the tank, made the round trip then filled it again. I put the gas in myself so I know it's full. It used 1.45 gallons. This seems kind of high to me.
I thought Sporties were lucky to break 50 mpg. The bike is stock except for synthetic oil. If this is normal the factory must have them really lean.

Yea I have a similar situation, I always fill up after about 105 mi, and I can maybe squeeze in 1.8 gallons after that. Its all highway and about 80 mph, but then once I had to hit reserve right at 100 miles. I don't get it

They do get killer MPGs. I have a Toyota truck that I just leave at home and ride my bike to work and do errands, than pleasure ride on the weekend. Just can't beat the MPGs.

They do get killer MPGs. I have a Toyota truck that I barely drive anymore and ride my bike to work and do errands, than pleasure ride on the weekend. Just can't beat the MPGs and the fun of the ride.

I have a 62 mile round trip for work and fill up every day. I usually put in about 1.45 gal. sometimes more or less depending how I twist the throttle. I have an '07 883 with a 1200 cc big bore kit. This is all on Los Angeles freeways.

I topped 60 mpg 3 times in the last 2 years with my 06 1200, the best was 62.2. All 3 times I did a lot of long runs around 60 mph. Most of the time I'm around 47-54 mpg. Depends on what my right hand is doing.

I routinely get 61-63 mpg. Best has been around 67 mpg, hit that mark a few times when on a long cruise at 55-60 mph.

+1 on the 47-54 mpg. I saw a few averages that were better (over 60 mpg) when I went out west last year. I think cruisin' at 60 mph is the trick for high mileage (and keeping my wrist under control).

I used to get about 60 mpg. Now that I have juiced it up a little, I get 50 to 52 mpg. Still not too shabby. It beats the heck out of 14 mpg in my pu.
