I hope you insured the trailer against damage. You will be screwed by the dealer. You should have called them as soon as you opened the door on the trailer. They may feel you rode it and went down in ten feet.Registering no mileage on the odometer.Basically you are responsible to secure your load not someone else.
most dealerships will not load or tie-down bikes onto trailers for exactly this reason. they did it as a favor but im pretty sure that they are not supposed to. You should have double and triple checked those straps and the positioning.
Yep technically it is your responsibility. As a professional trucker I have first hand knowledge of that. With that being said I think the dealer would want to work with you. After all if they treat you right you will come back and buy parts, clothes, service and maybe another bike. If I was the dealer I would fix it. Hell it won't cost THEM that much to fix it as I bet they get parts a wee bit cheaper than us. Now if he tells you to go pound sand then just tell him that he lost all future business and that is that.
Man, that sucks.
I know if that was my bike I would have been all over the straps before I left the Dealer. Definitely tell the Dealer, they should help you out in some way. But when it comes right down to it your responsible.
Good luck to you... let us know how it works out.
