Default gas mileage

What kind of gas mileage are you guys getting on your sporty. I have a 06 1200 with 3600 miles and am averaging only around 40-42 miles per gallon. Thought it should be up around 50. I am not real heavy with the throttle and everything is stock. Also what tire pressure are you running in your tires?

Long trips I've gotten as much as 54. Just everyday riding varies. Usually mid 40's. Tire pressure, 40 front, 40 rear.

Is that 40 front and 40 rear with the stock dunlops. My tires are looking worn already. I put more air in today. 34 front and 35 rear, should I go to 40/40

Just rode 148 miles of winding country road, super slab and local driving in
about equal proportions at altitudes from 6,000 to 8,000 feet on exactly 3
gallons. When the road is "interesting", I tend to run in a lower gear at higher
rpm with more throttle usage, but on straight roads I run in the highest gear
the bike will allow. I tend to accelerate up through the gears using lots of
throttle 'cause it's fun...

Oh, yeah, I have the HD windshield.

I average about 45 mpg on my bike, but I've measured over 50 on a couple of occasions. Changed the front sprocket to 29T a couple months after I got it to lower RPMs a bit. Started it's life as an 883, now a 1200.
