Default V&H exhaust question

Bought V&H short shots for my wifes Nightster.

I've seen many a guy here state that if you are ONLY changing the
exhaust and leaving the intake stock that no download or other fuel management is necessary.

The DEALER told me that this info is completely wrong and that the bike will not run right unless I do something with the fuel setup.

Who is right?

so you have a performance exhaust, stock intake, and no ECM re-mapping or
other fuel management?

Exhaust and no air cleaner, it will be fine. If you change the air cleaner then you will have to change the mapping. The dealers job is to sell you parts. Nothing wrong with that as that is part of what keeps them in business, but we know the truth here.

I have been running my short shots with the stock air cleaner and no ecm re-map all this riding season and have had no problems.

Once in a while you get a little pop on decel but that is it.

You can run the exhaust and an air cleaner with out any remap or a SERT.
But it will run better and cooler with a remap or SERT.
I don't get why you guys don't do this from the get go and have it financed right into the bike loan, then it wouldn't be such a big deal.

Had the V&H BR 2-2 on my Rocker C for a month. Ran smoothly. Used Fuel Pack and remapping only after I changed the filter. Cheers!

Thats kind of a silly thing to say.

Not everyone is made of money and can just roll whatever we want into the financing. To keep the payment where we needed it to be we had to take it stock and worry about upgrades at a later date.

Even then I have to do the work myself. Cant afford the stealers hourly labor rate on top of the parts price tag.
