The cardboard and punch trick works well. I got more oil to drain after I loosened the filter a 1/2 turn. Still, you need lots of paper towels or rags. It is the best way I have found.

I don't think there is any perfectly clean way to drain any oil out of anything.

My scoot has the Harley oil cooler and the oil cooler adapter places the oil filter out from the oil filter mount about two inches. I use the old "piece of card board" method and that does the trick. Any oil that is left over I wipe up with a rag and use some spray cleaner, I've been using electro contact cleaner it dries pretty quick and leavers no residue but it can be expensive, the brake cleaner that was mentioned earlier will do the trick also.

The oil cooler adapter does help out allot as it moves the filter out from the mount so that the card board slips under it farther.

For once a Harley add on product helps more than it hinders
