What do i need and am I getting BS'ed?
Ok so i got an '08 nightster with VH short shots on it and i have a big sucker collecting dust in my garage waiting to be installed. The question is once i put the big sucker what do i need to do next. One shop told me to put in a TFI to add more fuel then get it dyno'd and then the dealership says i need to get the heavy breather instead and then a download (they also said the TFI will void my warrenty). I obviously am going to stay with the big sucker cause i already have it. Also i have heard mixed reviews about Power Commanders. I know there are a lot of guys out there that know far more about this stuff then me and aren't working for commission so i figured this is the place to get a straight answer. thanks a bunch, you guys have never steered me wrong in the past.

If you put the big sucker on you are going to need to get a tunning device of some kind to componsate for the the increased air flow that it allows over the stock a/c. If you are worried about how much you are spending and on the warranty go with the V&H fuelpak since you have V&H pipes. It only limits the warranty rather than voiding it. It is also very easy to program/tune. The instal is tricky (just did mine last night) but it is do able, and it does fit above the battery just like the instructions say if you move one of the wires above the battery far enough to the left of the bike.

I had the download done at the dealership. It may just be me but it seems to have smoothed things out...but there are a ton of bikes here that have been running around for years with nothing downloaded or no PC (I have also heard bad things about the PC but again, that's not what I have so I cannot prove or disprove their complaints).

I have the PCV and It does not add power and I have heard that on long trips it will leave you sitting. I can say that I just rode it for 200 miles today with it only sitting about 1 hr for lunch. Never a problem with it. this weekend I plan on taking it 250 miles and only stopping for gas so i will let you know how it does. so far, no complaints, it does what it is supposed to do. and easy to tune (with alot of test rides down the road)

This has got to end. I have heard so much B.S. on this subject I'm gonna be sick. (YES, if you put on a set of V&H's pipe's, and a hiflo AC. you HAVE to remap!). (NO, a remap from the stealer will not work!). (Yes, you should get an after market unit). (NO. it will not void the warrenty). It may limit it. All you have to do is check your plug's. They will tell you how that motor is running. Any motor. HOLLYWOOD..................
