Default shocks question... if money was no object?

alright, i've had my nightster for two weeks and i think i'm approximately 2" shorter now than i was when i got it. i've got a herniated disc that has been killing me for 7 months and if i can't soften the ride dramatically i may have to sell

what shock will make the biggest difference? i've heard a lot of talk about 412s, but i've also been told they won't change it that much....

From what I've heard the air shocks off the Road Kings, Ultra Classics, etc. are the best (and cheapest if bought "used") money can buy. I'm waiting to find out. Mine should be here by weeks end. Then I just have to find the time to put them on.

You might want to consider slightly longer shocks. They would have more travel and improve the ride.

i'm not getting rid of it, not without trying to fix the problem.

Does anyone out there have the ohlins? i really wanna hear some first hand accounts of improvements.

i think i can get them for between $500 and $600, but i don't think they make anything in the 12" 0r 12.5" range, they're metric anyway, but seem to jump from 11.5" to 13.2". i'm worried this much of a height increase might mess up other things.

From what i've read penske is another option, but i know even less about these.

Since money actually is an object you should really consider the Road King air shocks. There are plenty of threads discussing their Pros and Cons so read up. Mine measure 12.75" eye to eye. I got a smokin' deal on ebay. I payed a "Buy it Now" price of $40 plus shipping for a set that had been taken off when new.
