Default Oil Drain Plug snapped off?

Found a black plastic piece in my backyard ...had no idea what it was , looked in my manual today to see about doing an oil change and saw a pic and there it was the drain plug....now my bike is not leaking oil ..maybe is snapped off when I went up the ramp to my shed.....just got the bike in march...will they cover that under warranty or will the stealership charge me?

Are you talking about the plug that goes in the end of the drain hose?

Hard to say, I think it will depend on your dealer. It is pretty cheesy the way they have the plastic oil drain plug attach to the oil line hose with a clamp ... you would think they could come up with something a little better.

Depends if your dealer wants to make the customer happy, or just make another sale. I would tell them it came that way and you just noticed it. You may even be able to find a nice chrome bolt in your tool shed to replace the cheap plastic plug.

I would just find something else that's just lying around that's more durable. If you want the original plug, I imagine it wouldn't cost but a couple of bucks. I like the way my 02 is set up... the hose is clamped to a stud on the bottom of the frame up out of the way and not flopping around under there.

unless it has a rubber hose attached to it chances are it's not snapped off, just get a small hose clamp and plug it back into the hose and tighten it back down

If it is the plastic plug that fell out, wouldn't oil be leaking from that hose? Seeing as though that is the oil drain

Warranties don't cover "abuse". If you dropped your bike you wouldn't expect the warranty to cover your mirrors and bars, would you?
