so I bought a 09 1200c

I got the vance and hines straight shot slipons...no A/C just the pipes for now, will do a full stage one in the future..

I disconnect the battery put the pipes on and go for a ride seems to be a little popping and crackleing when I decelerate.....should I be concerned about this?

 

my buddies cycle shacks do that after he install the slip ons

 

as long as you did not open up air cleaner ?
you will be ok

 

My Rush Slip ons do that a little bit too. I hear that once the full stage 1 and fuel mgmt gets installed that goes away.

Think of the air intake, the cylinders and the exhaust as a carefully calibrated system. When you change one part of the system, you must make changes to the other parts to accomodate those changes. A free-breathing air box and a re-map would eliminate those pops and crackles.

 

My 07 883xlc with v&h slipons and Pc3. did that when first got her (already had pipes and Pc3, bought used with 365 miles on her) I adjusted it and have had no pooping whatsoever.
adj 0 throttle position at 500 rpm to 1250 from 0 to 20

 

it is normal and wont hurt till you get your ac and remap done.

 

Why on earth would you disconnect the battery to install slip-ons?

 

Mine still does it , even with the stage 1 and remap , Now it only pops on decel. , if it was poping while getting on the throttle then i would be worried ..
