I'm 5'-7" and 150 lbs. The bike is light and so am I, a good combination. I will upgrade to a RK in a few years though. I would like to keep the Sportster as a second bike and a momento of times past.

I love the bike. I do not ride with passengers on longer rides, mainly because the bike is not set up for passenger comfort. I also do not see the reason for a bigger bike when there is nothing wrong with the one I got.

Lighter than a BT, no passengers, light rider .... bike = quick.

 

The '01 Custom will have more legroom than most softtails. Sounds like you are ready I would get one now. I will guarantee that ridin' a sporty now is way better than wishinn for a softie.
BYW - 6'4" 230 lb - I've put about 15,000 miles on my '04 in the 20 months I have had it. Expect to tweak controls, seat & shocks - makin it yours.

 

Not sure what Softail you are talking about, but my FatBoy has as much legroom as my Dyna, which is much more than my 1200C.

With the 'cruise arms' I have installed on my Softail the legroom is increased even more, up to the point where I can extend my legs all the way out (34" inseam) and lay the heels of my boots on the pegs.

Im about 6'2", 160 and sporty fits great. Nice for town cruising, but also great on highway. best of luck

 

Im 6'2 with a 34" inseam. I feel pretty comfortable, but could use some extensions on the forwards.

 

5'11 250 but like 20 pounds of that is my brass *****.

 

5'4" 150 lbs. My sportster is just fine

 

6'3" 245lbs and my stock custom is more then comfortable.
