They dont come in black but you can get heat sheilds in black. I was thinkin of powdercoating them too. Either way they are awesome. I absolutely love them. I am planning on putting some black heat wraps on them soon. I'll put up some pictures when i get that done.

yupp, made my own. i had the same issue as you, didn't have the $$ and i had a buddy who was willing to teach me to weld (really a crash course) and lend me his welder. if ya have any questions PM me. i gotta a whole photobucket on how i made mine. i did alot a research and there is a little bit to it, like haveing the same length pipe and a couple other little things that will help in makeing cool pipes that won't kill yr performance.

here are the pipes on my bike before i made some big changes...pipes are basically the same. some little changes, i'll have pics up in the next few weeks

BTW this is not a nightster, its a 04 1200c

Yea, I ended up buying the sideshots. because I realized it's gonna take allot of trial and error for me to make my own (I still am going to try though) I just didn't want to have my bike taken apart while I try to make my own. I figure I'll put on my new pipes now, learn how to weld properly, then start to make my own and possibly sell the sideshots once I make my own. Thanks to everyone that helped out with there input and hopefully this thread will help sombody with a similar dilema.
