Really like the V&H Shortshots , do they have the power chamber like the sideshots do ? Looks to have enough room for V&H to add one if they don't already .

No the shortshots do not have the power chamber like the sideshots. The only other system for the sportsters that have the power chamber would be the double barrel staggered. Or you could go for true 2:1 and get the competition series for a few hundred more.

What's a power chamber? I'm trying to learn as much as I can with exhaust.

This is straight from the V&H website, (I do not take credit for writing this in anyway shape or from and am quoting V&H)
"The race-inspired Power Chamber is a unique crossover system that delivers the power and performance advantages of a 2-into-1 race system, yet keeps the intimidating look of a 2-into-2 drag pipe. The Power Chamber uses the volume of both mufflers to improve scavenging of each cylinder for more efficient combustion. The end product is more power, more torque and one perfect sound."

So basically it is an exhaust that looks like a 2:2 but acts like a 2:1. 2:1 provide the most perfromance for motorcycles. There are pictures on their website that show the chamber. Where the pipes come together there is actually a chamber that allows the exhaust gasses from each pipe to flow together to get the perfect amount of backpressure to achieve the greatest amount of performance. This is why the the sideshots come as one unit, you can not seperate the 2 pipes because essentially where the two pipes come together it is a single pipe. This is why they can be a challenge when installing.

Hope that isn't too confusing...

I was under the impression that you could add the quiet baffles to either the short or side shots? Is this correct?

Also which ones would be considered louder the short or side shots. I really like the side shots but don't want them to be too loud...

The quiet baffles are compatible with both sideshots and shortshots. The sideshots would probably be louder and sound a little different from shortshots due to having the power chamber.

I went a different route and got Hooker Troublemakers (they still have some left on their website for 75% off). I was going to get Short Shots but it seems like EVERYONE on a Sporty has them. I originally wanted the Hookers but coldn't afford them. What luck!!! Also have SE stage 1 AC and Race Fueler.

Default V&H SideShots

Have SideShots and really like them, sound real nice, wanted short shots but went with SideShots because of 2:1 performance. Had SE Stage 1 AC done as well, notice a big difference from when it was stock.

I went with the Rienhart crossbacks because everyone else has the short or side shots. Sound is amazing!
