Kinda embarrassing when you get on it and try to hit the limit.....BBBWWAAAAAAAA....but....put...but....but ...but....(shift)....BBBBWWWAAAAA........
ROFLMAO! When they catch up, I'm just sitting there shaking my head in shame. So true, I'm glad I'm not the only one.

Hey, anybody know if there is a Harley Service Bulletin for this?

For the ignition module-speedo thing, not my inability to shift before the rev limiter kicks in.

You could get a SE ignition race tuner, (for carbed bikes) but make sure you get a new, sealed in the box one, as once you hook it up, it's locked to that bike. It will allow you to set timing, and rev limit, on a stock module. I got one off Ebay, but it had been used, and was locked. Then I got a Thunder Heart module $200.00 it is programable but has an issue with the speedo. I'm still tweaking the speedo calibration. Runs GREAT!

That's what I'm planning. Cams WITH the ignition module. Stock limit is 5400, isn't it?
The 'rev-limiter' on my 2005 1200C kicks in at 5,985 RPM, just a bit below 6,000 RPM.

As you know, the 1200C's don't come with a tach, so I had the guys at the shop check the point where the limiter started backing off power. It was always at the same point, right below 6,000 RPM.

The SE "E" cams don't make higher power above their peak power point of 6,000 RPM, so why would I need to worry about an ignition that would allow me to shift at 7,000 RPM?

I might be nice to be able to shift in the 6,200 RPM range (to allow for between shift RPM drop), but that's not a big deal.

Uhm....I slept on this and then asked a few mechs that went to school for bike stuff and turn wrenches for a living. None of us could come up with a reason that made any sense for why an ignition module would effect the speedometer.

The 50 state module does nothing more than up the rev limiter so have no idea how that would create a problem.

The pro perf module does retard timing, but only at full throttle.

I'm not saying its not possible. You guys are reporting that is is happening to you. It's just hard to swallow. I'm sure if this were an issue, HD would have a service bulletin for it as well as an offering for a fix or a revised unit that does not cause the same reported problems.

If you're interested, check this page out. My Thunder Heart module allows you to calibrate the speedo. Soooo, the module does control the speedo Also note that the module on this page, is for 04 models, which is why the speedo on my 06 (helical gears) is out of sync. I'm still trying different settings in the module, to try to correct it, but it doesn't seem to be responding right. I'm wondering now, if one were to install a speed sensor from a 04 model, if that would solve the problem. Just drawing at straws, at this point.
