Default Harley sound

A friend of mine recently bought a 07 883 Sporter. While he likes the bike, I can tell he prefers the "sound" of my 93 Sporty. He has been exploring the options of new pipes and the remapping and I think the price is holding him back.

Since his birthday is approaching, I thought I might get him started towards the sound. Any suggestions on what I could get him for his birthday towards the final goal of hearing his Sporty roar?

I was looking for different pipes for my 92 sporty. I found cheap ones on evilpay. I think they are around 90.00 shipped.

I'm looking at Vance and Hines Straight Shot HS Slip-Ons when I get the coin together.
Dennis Kirk Part #: 4400118

Manufacturer Part #: 16819 $228.99

Vance & Hines Straightshots HS Slip-Ons

Want to be my friend too? My birthday is in October.

Point out his options to him and let him choose, while getting him things for his scoot seems like a good idea, ask yourself this, will either one of you get offended when said parts do not have the desired effect or they are sold/given away for other parts. Just a thought. Why not just get him a ride bell and a brew, let him know what you think of your friendship. Just my $,02

Slip ons are the cheaper way to go, and you really can get a great sound. I just recently bought and installed Cycle Shack turnout style slip ons ($169)... I'll be posting a video and pics tommarrow. So if you aren't wanting to spend 100+ on your friend, maybe just some cash that you make sure he spends on pipes, or a gift card to a local cycle shop. Like said before, it is not necisary to do anything but pipes. As long as that is all he changes, his bike will run ok.

Edit: zimbob is probably right, but a gift card can never do wrong.

I thought about the slip ons too. Are there any that are better than others?

He has been exploring his options for some time now. I am thinking once he gets the slips ons it may inspire him. Besides he gets brews all the time Birthdays are special. We are both pretty comfortable and if he decided to trade/sell, that would be ok. A gift is a gift to do with what he will.
I would have the whole thing done for him if he would let me. He is a special friend.

Sorry but You don't know him. A gift card from me would be the absolute worse thing I could get him. He would feel that I put no thought into his gift. It would be like giving him cash. I have a couple of ideas and I still have some time to decide. Just getting my options.

thanks
