Default 24" drag bars on Nightster?

Hello,

I've been doing a ton of reading and am lost and confused on what size drag bars will fit. I found some 24" wide, 8.25" center, and 4.5" pullback bars and want to know if they will fit with the stock risers? I want as narrow of bars with some pullback as I can get with the stock risers. I have read that as long as the the center is as wide as possible with the drag bars then there shouldn't be a problem with the controls hitting the tank. Is this true?

don't know from experience but 24" bars seems like it would be kinda close to the tank even with minimal PB, wide center width on stock risers.

HD makes a 27" bar (I think) that people have used on stock risers, leaving about 1" in between the controls and tank, at full lock.

Mine are 27" with the stock risers. I think 24" will put your controls into the tank. I don't have an inch...not even 1/2" of clearance.

On another note, at high speeds I feel like mine are too narrow as it is. Especially in a crosswind. If mine were a bit wider I think I would have more control.

Thanks everyone. Mreed that was exactly the answer I was looking for, because I have always wondered about bike control with the smaller bars. I'm going to look around for some 27" or 28". There probably isn't much difference between those 2 sizes.

One more question. Would a 7.5" center with 4.5" pullback be ok with a 28" bar?
Thanks!
