rear brake lockup

This is generally true. Yet the push power of the leg on a rear brake is very high, even if not in a panic stop. All the more reason IMO for a linked system. But as noted above, a good linked system requires two brakes on the front wheel.

I hardly ever use the back brake. I've locked the front up and all she did was chirp, not like a bicycle where she'll endo. A deserted road is your best for practice braking, a parking lot will work but a deserted road is your best bet to getting up to roadway speeds to practice emergency braking.

was out on my 05 883l on saturday when i had to really slam on my brakes hard. I was probially going about 50-60 mph. When i stepped on the brakes my *** end kicked out to my right and i hard to do some maneuvering to keep it on the wheels. My question you you all is, is there anything i can do to make the bike a little more stable for those sudden stop situations? Any suggestion and advice is greatly appreciated.
