I agree its most likely gonna be fine when disputed, but those (not me) working hourly don't get paid spending time in court disputing a decal that is no worse the the VIN one on the opposite down tube.

Really no different then the battle here on locations of Post Decals for military installations. If they specify a location, save time and money. Put it there. Just my two cents.

Mine decals are stacked on plates dead center of my frame in front on the bottom (look on my sig), but NC (no more decal in 2009) and Fort Bragg don't care where.

 

dude when i was a cop.. if they stop you,they want to bang you... so just put it wherever. theyll just get you for something else

 

I'm in NY and my sticker is on a plate hanging from the bolt that holds the fender. It's illegal but I'm not to worried about it since my bars are too high, my pipes are to loud and my helmet is not DOT. Also reflectors are the law and I don't have any of those on my bike or helmet.

 

I'd move that ASAP.
Mine was up front on the brakes too. The plate that the sticker is on has 4 sharp edges.
Every time I turned the brake line would rub up against the plate.
Waay too dangerous for me, don't want my front brakes going out.

The place it should go is down on the frame behind the tranny.
