why do people always ask this question? The 883 sporty has plenty of power to haul around 2 people. Think about it, people ride around 2 up on stuff much smaller than that. You will have no issues.

i havent had a problem yet with mine. since your upgradeing next year save your self some money and use a phantom suction cup seat. thats what i use i think the solo seat on a sporty looks nicer.

We had to bump the shocks to the 3rd notch, but we've never even considered not riding 2-up since the day we bought the bike. There's plenty of power in the bike and it's not like you're out to hit 100 with your wife on the back anyway. So yes...you can ride 2-up on an 883L no problem.

Good place to start http://www.jpcycles.com/?source=cj
Your going to need passenger peg mounts along with the rear pegs. I think the Lows don't have the rear peg mounts stock?

You didn't say what your total weight would be, or if you were carrying luggage. By far your biggest concern is the shocks, not the power. My wife and I max our the GVW, and the stock shocks definitely won't take it on a standard. On a low, I would expect you to be bottoming out regularly even with the shocks at their highest setting.

The specs show for my bike GVW is 1000lbs I doubt We would come close to that but I agree Shocks will be the most important facet to consider

I just happen to have a seat that will work for sale on eBay right now. It is a H-D Sidekick Custom seat. It was for my '07 883L, so it should fit yours fine. There is some slight difference between the Low models and other models due to closer fit under seat.
This seat is in pretty good condition. New it costs about $250? My "Buy it now " is $75.

I only took it off because it doesn't fit the new fender I have. It is a comfortable seat for both driver and passenger. I liked it.
